Important information & FAQ

DOG WALKING:

All dogs are required by law to be microchipped (unless exempt)- please ensure that your details are kept up to date. All dogs walked should be wearing a collar and tag with owner contact details . If dogs are to be walked in a group it is important that they are up to date with vaccinations, and that you treat them for worms and fleas regularly. If I believe that your dog is showing signs of an infectious disease or is not well enough  to walk  and you aren't home I will contact you to discuss this.

Group walks- Your dog will be out of the home for up to 2 hours for a 1 hour walk, pick ups and drop offs. Group walks at present are a maximum of 4 dogs, who have been assessed as safe to walk together, or up to 6 from same household- if this changes I will update you. Puppies must be at least 6-8 months dependent on their breed to join group walks. There may be times where the weather affects whether I am able to walk your dog- their safety and welfare will always be my priority. I will let you know if I need to change things and if I can offer drop ins to your pet instead if you will not be home.

Walks will be in and around the Bexley area, they will be considered to support your dogs needs according to their age, breed and the weather (plenty of water and woods in the hot months). In the coming months I am hoping (demand dependent) to offer adventure days out a bit further afield. Keep a look out for news on these .

What is a 'Meet and Greet'?

This is our opportunity to get to know one another. You can share your requirements and I can assess your dogs needs - we can work out the best way to meet these.

We can meet wherever suits you- your home or the park. Its important that you share any information that could be relevant- good and bad . Your dog may be the perfect pooch 99% of the time - except that once when they met a great dane !!! None of us is perfect and it helps to have an understanding of your dogs needs .

The meet and greet also offers you the opportunity to decide whether I am the right person for you and your pet.

Please note no services will be undertaken without an initial meeting having taken place.

How can I trust you?

Your pets safety is the most important thing and I will not take risks with your dogs on our walks. If I don't think your dog can manage group walks or off leash walking I will discuss this with you and together we will come up with a plan. I am not currently a dog trainer but I am happy to continue any advice you have been given by one.

If you will not be at home when I am walking your dog there are two options for access to walk your dog. Either you can provide a lock box outside of your home with the key in and share the code which I will store safely. Alternatively you can provide a key for me to keep safely in a lock box at my home.

I am DBS checked and have worked in the NHS for the past 19 years requiring an enhanced DBS regularly.

I am insured as a dog walker and pet sitter and have business car insurance for transporting dogs.

I am first aid trained Level 3 (VTQ) and carry a first aid pack for dogs on my walks.

I am furthering my understanding of canine behaviour through courses and extensive reading.

How can I book
services?

At present all bookings can be made by email, text message or messaging on social media. In the future I am hoping to introduce an app where you will be able to see my availability and can book / pay directly. I will update the website with details when I introduce this. In the meantime I will add any dates that I am on holiday myself to the social media accounts for Pooch & Puss Bexley.

If you are planning a holiday or need a pet sit during school holidays or bank holidays please note that these dates are booked up very quickly . These times will require a 3 day minimum booking and may be payable in advance.

My question isn't covered here....

Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have in the way that suits you best. If its a call and I dont answer then I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as I can.
